Finny’s Five Fave (Wild Child) Toys
I’ve got a two-and-a-half year old boy who is regularly described by strangers (& loved ones) as alllll boy.
The dude’s crazy sometimes, tbh. 😂
So I did a round-up of five of his most-beloved toys for being active. They have a focus on activity bc I think that’s a really important trait to encourage in my little guy. He does sit still sometimes, and he’s memorized like 8 books cover-to-cover. But these toys encourage his wild child ways, and they help harness and focus that energy well.

1. Little Tikes Basketball Hoop + Toddler Sized Basketball
My little guy plays with this thing ENDLESSLY. In fact, he loves it so much (and basketball in general) that we got him this tot-sized basketball to go with it rather than the balls that come with it. He loves the combo and “shoops da ball” daily. 😂
🏀 Snag your own hoop here.

2. Modular Tumble Couch
Okay, these couches ROCK! From building forts to having sleepovers to throwing oneself at them to launching oneself off of other furniture onto them, they’re perfect for crazy kiddos - during their wild moods AND their chill ones.
🛋 We have this Mod Blox 10-piece set in sage green and LOVE it, but you could snag their 6-piece set here.
3. B. Toys Balance Beams & Sensory Steps
My mom got this set for my tot for Christmas, and he loves it! We set it up in different shapes & designs, and he also quickly learned how to clean it up when he was finished (bonus points!!) because it stacks so easily into two compact piles. Love! He turns it into little games about going on a bear hunt since that’s a current fave book of his. 😂 It’s great for independent and together play!
✨ Get your balance beams set here.
4. Pikler Ladder, Slide, and Climbing Toy (aka an indoor playground of sorts!)
For my boy’s first birthday, we got him this pikler set. I wanted something that was less than $100, had a slide and ladder, and was pretty looking. This set not only has an adjustable ladder and removable slide, but you can also flip the slide over to use as a mini climbing platform! Pair this with the aforementioned tumble couch and balance beams to create an obstacle course, and your active kiddo will be in distracted heaven! Go sip your coffee, Mama! (At least for a handful of mins lol.)
🛝 Okay, this is an updated version of mine, and the updates are SO. GOOD. Wow. I’m jealous of you, honestly. lololol
5. Punching Bop Bag Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Thing
Little dude went through an awful tackling stage (ugh!), so my mom shipped this bad boy to us. Not only did he love tackling it, but it could withstand the craziness of my 2.5 year old maniac. He could hit, kick, tackle, and shove this thing, and it would bounce back and bop him in return. Finny would GUFFAW! Hahahah! 10/10 for us.
🥊 Snag the same one we got here. (Finny named him Mr. Alligator - creative, I know. 😂)
There ya have it! If you’ve made it this far, I have one more rec for ya:
As a Christmas surprise for the grandkids, my parents bought these super cool rock climbing holds that attached to a strap which attached to a tree. Soooo, if you don’t have a great climbing tree and don’t want to build a rock-climbing wall in your house yet (🙋🏼♀️), then you should definitely check out these tree climbers! (Plz note: The brand my mom got is sold-out, so I’ve linked something similar.)
