My 2024 Reading Round-Up

IYKYK 😘

But also - how cuuuuuuute is this wall at our local bookstore?!

In 2024, I set out to read 30 books and finished the year with 37 under my belt. 💪🏼

Though you could follow along on GoodReads, I thought it’d be fun to share my rankings for all 37 books (and maybe a few blurbs on them).

A quick note about my rankings:

If I gave it 5🌟, it means I’ll likely have an overly dramatic reaction of some sort if you mention that book in my presence. I’ll also very likely shove a copy of it in your hands if we’re by my bookshelf.

If I gave a book 4🌟, it means I liked it a lot and would probs recommend it.

If I gave a book 3🌟, it means it was just fine. *shrug*

If I gave a book 2🌟, I probably only finished it for book club and would have otherwise DNFed it. Lolol

My 2024 Five-Star Reads:

Ask me how quickly I became an Abby Jimenez romance fan. 😍 I’ve been obsessed with Emily Henry’s romance novels for a few years now, so I embraced Abby’s writing with open arms. Both women are QUEEEEENS of the genre. Their characters, plot lines, and writing are just delicious in every way. These stories are more than just fluffy love stories - they’re deep and will leave an imprint on you. I swoon just thinking about them, tbh.

The TOG series wrapped up in such an incredible way - easy 5 stars for SJM there. Speaking of SJM, A Court of Thorns and Roses was a re-read for me. My girlfriend group and I finally got my sister-in-law to start the ACOTAR series, and it made me want to go back and re-read them. Thanks to ACOTAR and my re-read of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, I now have experienced Graphic Audio audiobooks. I think I like them! They can be kind of a lot at times (👀), but overall they’re a fun trip.

My 2024 Four-Star Reads:

A quick note on the Throne of Glass (TOG) series - The first few books are good. It’s not that they’re not good. But holyyyy guacamole!! If you started the series and you’re kinda feeling meh about it, stick with it. There’s a lot of build-up and background, but it’s so good and worth it! (Kinda like the Game of Thrones show!) Also… kinda a hot take… but I think I liked Tower of Dawn better than Empire of Storms during the tandem read. 👀

My 2024 Three-Star Reads:

They were fine.

My 2024 Two-Star Read:

Gahhhh… this book. THIS BOOK. It was SUCH a disappointment. I was hankering for some dragons, jonesing for something that would make me feel the way Fourth Wing did, and I saw a whole lot of recommendations for this book, and WOW - it fell so flat for me.

My 2024 Nonfiction Reads:

Okay, I loooved At Your Best so much that I asked for it for Christmas because I did the audio in 2024 and wanted to be able to re-read it & mark it up. (I got it. I’m so excited!) Also - lololol - can you tell I potty trained in 2024? 😂 Personally, I liked Potty Training in 3 Days better than the Oh Crap! book. I just felt like the first one was simpler and felt more fun to me. The second one had me doing a lot more eat-the-fish-and-spit-out-the-bones-ing.

That’s it! Those are my 37 books from 2024 that I read along with the star-ratings that I, personally, gave to each of them.

Hit me in the comments with the ones you loved, the ones that fell short for you, and any hot takes you’ve got. 👀
